-its a multicultural society
-its equally far for everyone to attend
-nice weather year round
-good spot to start surfing as an olympic sport
- great food, great people, great culture
- and above all shave ice in the summer

These days the size of the Olympics rules out all but the larger cities. The massive influx of spectators, media, and athletes along with the need for world class facilities requires places with deep pockets and serious infrastrucure. Transportation in Hawaii is woofully inadequate, and although there are a lot of hotels in the tourist areas thats not where major events would be held. Major cities are the only places with these things as well as the $$$ for the things they don't.
