I have a 2000 Jetta VR6, trying to change the battery but I cannot get the old one out. Auto stores I called said it was a size 12, tried that not fitting a round one or 5 or 6 sided, nothing will fit it to take it off. I tried a 11, 12, 13 none fit, 12 was the closest but wouldnt go down on it all the way. Is there something different because of the make of the car? Can anyone help me out?

If a 12mm won't fit, try a 7/16 - I know, it's not metric, but someone at the dealer may have screwed up. 13mm is almost the same as 1/2 inch, but not quite - try that as well. Or use an adjustable wrench - very carefully, so you don't damage the bolt.
