Braxton Hicks can cause a contraction or cramping feeling anywhere on your abdomen or your lower back; this sounds like probably BH contractions if they come and go. You can try lying down on the side that doesn't hurt, drinking some water and see if the pain eases up.

If the pain doesn't come and go, or doesn't ease up when you lay down on the opposite side, it could be the baby poking your insides. They have a lot of bony parts (elbows, feet, knees, etc.) that can cause some painful and uncomfortable cramping feelings. You can try to drink some juice to get the sugar in the baby to see if he/she will relocate and ease up the cramping.

These could be b/h contractions. Some women don't feel them, some don't know what they are. You can just have the feeling of contractions on one side. Alot depends on the position of the baby. I pray you know when you go into labor, I can't imagine it would be fun to catch a baby.

Contractions hurt like menstral cramps, yes, sometimes more intense, sometimes not.

My water broke with my last baby before I knew I was having contractions. I was 35 weeks.

Good luck

Usually Braxton Hicks are between 7 1/2-9 mths, mine were low under my belly. Has the baby turned yet? It could be he/she is turning.

On just one side? Maybe not. Baby might be pushing with feet or hands up into your ribs. Start timing if you think it is contractions.
