If you are around people that just show you hate and negativity, and you give them love in return...can it really turn things around?

will soften negativity. Hatred can be calmed (even reversed) with
love expressed at the right time. Love can turn them around, but
first they must be calm enough to listen. When someone is mad
or angry, they only want to rant and rave because they're insecure and feel that nobody is paying any attention to them. Get them to the point where they're listening to you, and love from
you will turn them around.

It may take awhile but eventually they will figure you out and see what kind of person you really are. People with hate and negativity in their life usually have a reason for being that way! they need positive people in their life like you so just keep being kind it will pay off one day!

Sometimes yes.
Every day I used to go to the cafe at school to buy a bagel and coffee. The lady at the register had that look like she hated her job and was gonna let everyone know by being, not rude, but unfriendly.
Every day I would pay for my bagel, smile, and say "thank you!" No smile, no response. I did this every school day for about 3 weeks. Well imagine my surprise when one day she said "you're welcome". The next day she actually cracked a small smile. Thereafter, she always had a genuine smile for me. I like to think that I made her day a little brighter, if only for a moment.
{Same thing worked with the parking attendant at my job.)
It wont always work but it is always worth trying.

I show love and kindness because it's the right thing to do not for any personal gain. If others see it and learn something then I'm happy but I have no other motive.

Yes, you may not get it back from that person but somewhere down the road someone may show you love and kindness when you are felling negative.

at some point . i do believe but people are jerks they dont appirciate what ur giving them . they think you'r just too innocent then they will stab u in the back
