You couldn't be any more misinformed.
Despite their crushing military defeat in every major battle fought in Viet Nam, including the TET offensive in 1968 - the anti war protests in the United States single handedly, and very effectively, kept the morale of the enemy up, knowing full well that their enemy was divided and not united or committed to victory. The message was clear - we were going to withdraw the troops - only the time table was unknown. This is not the message that leads to a defeatist morale by the enemy.
Why would you think the Islamic terrorists are any less emboldened than the Viet Cong were by the idea that their enemy is divided? What do you suppose they think everytime they hear that we don't think we can win in Iraq? Or that we should cut and run?
And, unlike the Viet Cong, the Islamic terrorists even have history on their side.
Think about it.

BS...hardly.
The History Channel had a show on last week that reviewed the entire history of the Vietnam War. In it, they documented the fact that, after the failed Tet Offensive, the North had nothing left. They were able to continue because of the anti-war protests in the U.S. and the perception that the country was so divided that, if they could just hold on a little longer, victory would be theirs.

pathetic strategy is the No. 1 thing that emboldens the enemy, and we've had that in spades... both in Vietnam and in Iraq...
it's much more emboldening than media or protest...
I mean... this is a war on terror... and we're not even going after any terrorist leadership... this is what emboldens the terrorists...
they don't think that we know who we are fighting because we aren't attacking the actual sources of terrorism... that emboldens an enemy...
I mean Osama killed 3,000 and we focus mainly on Iraq?
If I attacked france and they invaded Canada to get revenge... it would certainly embolden me...

I take it by this rant that you have never served in a war. Propaganda does play a large part in war. Negative propaganda hurts the morale of our troops and it does embolden the enemy. When the enemy sees the media war against our troops and president it makes them feel as if they are winning and encourages them to fight harder.

Hey come on now, even though Bush refused to protect the borders for five years, and God knows how many terrorist could have slipped over the border unnoticed, we must fight the terrist over there so we don't have to fight them over here. Were doin a heck of a job making Iraq a terrorist breeding ground. So stay ignorant and repeat after Bush, we must stay the course. Ooops, thats right, he claimed he was never about that, LOL.

FEAR IS DEFINED AS FUTURE EVENTS APPEARING REAL>FEAR< The power of suggestion in creating a fertile climate for fear to exist and appear relies on some thing or someone creating it in the first place!!! You can choose to be fearful or not!! There are those in the world who like to instill fear in others, but this can only happen if they cooperate in allowing it to germinate in ones own mind and heart!!!

I know what you mean. I'm so sick of hearing the Libs bad mouth the war when they voted for it, and this recent "resolution" they've concocted.... I don't think I've ever seen actions so spineless when all they need to do is vote to cut funding. Stop pissing, moaning, and crying, and put their money where their mouth is!

Repetition is the oldest form of brain-washing. It doesn't work on some of us though. We can hear "dissent emboldens the enemy" over and over and it just angers us instead of makes us believers.
Who comes up with this crappy jargon anyway?

It is propaganda designed to scare people. Much like the Nazis did in the 1930's before they gained control of Germany. It is one of many tactics used to cease power. And yes, I am sick of hearing it.
