ok so by accident i was doing my laundry and i thought i had bought detergent, but nope it was fabril softener! and i just filled the lid and put it in just as if it was detergent? i know my clothes won't get clean now, but is anything bad going to happen? oh man i'm a smart one.

No, nothings gonna happen just you clothes are gonna smell clean but they are not gonna be clean. Just wash them again and this time use laundry detergent. and use fabric softner on the Rinse cycle.

In most washers the fabric softener dispenser releases the product in the final rinse. If someone is putting soap in the fabric softener dispenser it means the first washes are being done without detergent and the final rinse has detergent in it. Surprised the clothing isn't coming out rough from having detergent still in it.

You will probably be fine. If the clothes weren't real dirty the plain water would have given them a good rinse and drained away the dirty water, then the rinse cycle w/fabric softner will make your clothes smell fresh.

nothing is going to happen. your clothes will get clean maybe not as clean as with a good detergent but they will get clean.

You'll get beautifully soft, nice smelling, dirty clothes..Duh.! Couldn't help myself.. I've done dumb things like that myself.. Makes you wonder sometimes..

just don't do your whites in it! i did that the other day on accident, and now i have blue socks and blue shirts!
