Do any of you know of any reputable skylight companies in the bay area? And by any chance do you know how much it will cost just to have someone come take a look?

I don't know what labor rates are in the bay area, but you may be able to get a free estimate from a home repair and remodeling company. Here's my guess: Depending on the size of the skylight, a good quality one (I prefer Velux) will cost maybe $250 to $350. Depending on the type of roof you have, the skylight requires a "flashing kit" to seal it to the roof. This could be another $75 or so. Labor? I'm guessing removal and replacement will take the better part of a day, and might be a bit more depending on how much re-vamping needs to be done to your ceiling inside. Could be $500?
Hope this helps!

If the skylight has beeen there for awhile and only just started leaking chances are you can do it yourself. You're gonna have to get on the roof and have a peek.Try looking for any dry and cracked caulking and or tar around the skylight. Check also where the glass or plastic is fitted into the frame sometimes the silicone in this area can dry out too. Clean these areas and reseal with a tar based sealer at the roof and silicone at the frame. Its worth a try. Estimate: 1 tube silicone, 1 can tar patch probably 20$ 1 hour labour. Take it apart and look at the model of ballast and buy the exact one. It's much cheaper than repalcing the whole thing and cheaper still doing it yourself.

If your talking about the kind that lets sunlight in, then ????
