I am 40 weeks, have been 60%effaced for over 3 weeks, I was dilated to 2cm, 3 weeks ago, but now I closed and am at zero, how much longer any tips on what I can do to induce labor. I've had constant contractions every 15-20 min for 2 weeks. I can't stand the pressure any longer, what can I do?

I would like to ask my doctor to induce me, but he sort of intimidates me, he treats me like a kid. When I tell him I have pain he says that it's normal, and that there is no reason to induce, he has me on routine weekly ultrasound, my baby's so big I barely feel movement, fluid he says is ok, and heartbeat strong. I just feel that if the baby's so big I am afraid that I might be ending up with a C-section due to his size, my doc has me on a diet but I keep gaining weight, they've found protein in urine, which is linked to preeclampsia, I have pre hypertension, all he has done is a sweep of membranes, but that hasn't done anything but give me strong contractions, and some spotting, but will not take me to active labor.

First of all you need to chill out. Your fear or tension is closing your cervix! So, relax, take a lot of soothing baths, get a tub, fill it with lavender, marbles and warm water and soak you feet, too! Get a massage! You need to distract yourself by Reading a good novel or watching movies. Walk around a lot or go swimming.
Next, I was 10-13 days overdue with all four of my babies and induction- not recommending that. This last labor was so awesome! I have to tell you the 2 weeks passed your date is common. More common than going early or on the due date. The due date is just an estimate.
It sounds like you may have a slightly posterior baby-
Also, try some lunges. Put one foot on the couch- have hubby hold you on one side so you don't fall, and bend your knee that is on the couch. Switch legs and do this every day.
If you are overdue, you could try Castor oil- mix it in a smoothy. But I only tell people overdue and facing immanent induction to do that.
Get on all fours and do pelvic rocks.
Good luck!

Ask to be induced. I had to be induced at 42 weeks pregnant cause that little boy just didn't want to come out. But I was huge. It was more taxing on my body than it was for him. Ended up needing a c-section for failure to progress. Good luck.

This is perfectly normal, but if you want to do something to help induce your labor by yourself try these:
1) have sex as much as you want ( this really works and helps to induce labor)
2) start cleaning something (like for instance sweeping or vacuuming or mopping.. this works too, it happened to me.)
3) go for a walk ( but try to walk a little faster than a leisurely walk)
These things really do work from my own experience and I hope they work for you too! CONGRADULATIONS!!

Most doctors won't let you go over 2 weeks past your due date due to complications your baby may have. If you can stand it , having sex can help to put you into labor, my friend did and she went into labor the next day.

Considering that chld birth hospitals have become baby mills, I am surprised he let you go this long. I had similiar experience clampsia, huge baby (10 lbs at birth) 2wks late and that did in fact end up in csection. Happy to report that the next baby was natural chld birth. the third I had pitoscin(sp?)--that one was worst ie; baby mill, didn't want to interfere with my doctors golf schedule;(! having said that, I really think that you should check urself in and have ur water broken. It's time.

Your doctor is required by law to respect your wishes. Stand up for yourself and tell him that you need to be induced as soon as possible. You could have serious complications if you wait any longer.

Well work your *** off doing housework because this will help move it along and if all else fails the Dr. will have to induce labour. Take care Heather

Have you spoken to your GYN? I was over a week late and had my ultrasound which showed he wasn't moving plus I was started to get excess fluid, which could cause infections and problems so they induced me. You need to call your doctor.

The best way to induce labor is to walk...eventually your doctor will induce you if you do not progress

if its really that uncomfortable for you, talk to your dr about inducing labor. since you are past your due date, its a reasonable option. but if your not going to induce, then ive heard that people can go up to 2 weeks after their due dates, so, its all up to baby! sorry for your discomfort. good luck and God bless your delivery and your baby!
