You are talking about a person's sense of honor. A person will honor their word only to a certain point. Some people are more honorable than others, and its too hard to measure this for it to be reliable. You can trust certain qualities in a person. If you learn that a person is greedy, you can trust they will do what you want as long as they know there is a payoff in the end. If you know a person is afraid of being labeled a bad person, then you know they will act out of guilt, and will avoid being judged...etc, etc,...

I use to. Trust is based on faithfulness with the understanding people are not infallible. Today, people are deceitful, treacherous, two faced, and evil. I don't know of anyone who isn't. I do know there are scads of people like that put themselves through great contortions not to appear so.
So, no. I do not trust anyone under heaven.
Particularly not even a relative.
This by voluminous exhibitions of what people really are. Only a fool would argue tenaciously against revealed, obvious, voluminous fact.

I don't trust strangers who ask me to give them and their friends a ride. Even if they offer to pay me. Also, I wouldn't trust a woman with my credit cards, valuable possetions like Comic book collection, collectibles or any of my things. I once saw a talk show where the guys wife or girlfriend secretly took his life time worth's baseball card collection worth in the tens of thousands or more and sold it for like $100. Inorder to clean up the house. After witnessing that incident I realized the woman stoped developing mentally at the age of 12-14 and maybe she wanted to provoke him to assault her. So that she can win a divorce financially and criminally.

You can trust your doctor, and some other professionals to varying degrees, but few people can be trusted completely. Everyone is out to get the best for themselves.

Trust in yourself! It is really unfair not to be able to trust anyone. There are people who deserve to be trusted but because we are burned a few times we can't seem to be able to trust anyone.

The only person I trust completely is myself. Sad but true.

It's like LBJ said, "Trust everyone, but brand your cattle.". In other words, do your due diligence to protect your self. People who can be trusted would expect you to do so. Only people who cannot be trusted would be offended.

Yes, I trust my husband, my children, and my close friends.
I tend to be trusting, but I generally remain aware of how trustworthy the other person has proven to be, and adjust what I tell them accordingly.

There aren't many I trust either. I trust my husband for one and only a few others.
