lots of players get cut or don't play during the not world cup season. Demarcus Beasley isn't on the U.S.'s squad right now, even though they have a game against Mexico tomorrow night

He is injured. Besides friendlys are meant to scout new talent. Usually they won't play big names. Also why risk injury of your best player if the match doesn't count?
