That really depends on what your criteria is. Even for "Best Place to a Job" really depends on what kind of job you are seeking.

Give us more information.

It does really depend, though the characteristics described in the previous post are pretty big generalities. I live in California in a pretty small quiet town - not a faster pace of life unless you live in a bigger city. Upstate New York is also very different than New York City. The U.S. is a big place and there is a lot of variation even within a single state.

One thing is true however - salaries are higher on both coasts - but so is the cost of living.

That depends on the kind of lifestyle you want and what kind of job you want.
If you want a more hectic, yuppie style life, try California or New York, if you want slow pace, farming life, try the midwest (Cold Weather though, all 4 seasons) Want warm weather year round, and good home style country cooking try the South, like Texas, and South Carolina (great Sweet Ice Tea!), There are advantages to living about anywhere in the US. We are truly a melting pot of different tastes and different Communities.
If you are into clubbing, Iowa or Missouri, are probably not your choice. If you are into raising a family in the Bible belt of America, Farming or slower pace living, Cheaper homes etc, then Iowa and Missouri, Kansas etc. are your place to go.
Want to Ski, Move to Denver. Etc Etc..

CNN Money had an article on this recently. It was based on cost of living, crime rate, climate, things like that. If I had the link I'd give it. Maybe Google it and you can find it. Good Luck!
