Sounds like it could be infection.

Your tongue can remain swollen for a few days after getting it pierced. The ring of skin on the barbell, no worries, just clean it off carefully, it's part of the healing process. And make sure you keep rinsing with the Listerine-type mouthwash the piercer SHOULD have given you, to ward off infection and help the healing process. If anything persists, consult with the piercer and/or go to your doctor's office. Hope this helps! Have a great week!

It is not infection! Your tongue is just swollen and that's normal. When the swelling goes down the ring will lessen a little but not totally because that's where the bead from the barbel sits thus pressure. So there is a bit of an indention. NORMAL.
