My being egotistical, aren't we? Everyone is scared of death, to leave something behind that they worked their whole life for is scary. I can tell you for certain that I am in no way part of your imagination, if I am. Why did you let what happen to me 8 years ago happen! See you don't know it, so your not God, nor did you creat the human race or the world. Get over yourself.

Maybe.
If you subscribe to a nondual view, such as the Hindu path of Advaita Vedanta, there is no distinction between you and God, if God created the world then so did you. You are part of God and God is part of you. In this path, the waking experience is an illusion, the "Veil of Maya". If we are spiritual beings, learning to be human then there is no reason to fear death. You are here to be happy; to learn and have fun. You can choose (or have the illusion of choice and appear to choose) to not be happy, or any of an infinitude of other paths - you are not required to be good, bad, happy, sad, admired, loved or feared - you are required to take the consequences of your choices (or sit back and travel the path you have no choice on). You are scared because you choose to be scared at some level. You can wear the emotion of fear or discard it like clothes when you try on others. You are not your emotions, you are the person who asks why you feel scared. In asking you start to separate yourself from the emotion. Once you notice this you can release yourself more completely as you spend more time observing your emotions and less time living in them, except when you choose to.

Then again ... I may be wrong

i'm not afraid to die because i know my afterlife will be better than this earth could imagine
you are afraid because you have no faith
and you don't know where you're going after you die.

If you knew the Lord Jesus Christ you wouldn't be scared.

Absent from the body - Present with the Lord. Death has no sting.
