There are plenty of places where it gets that cold - Artic, antartic, Siberia, etc. With the 82nd Airborne Div. we jumped in 26 miles outside Ankrage, Alaska on Operation Frozen Chosen for a survival and operational exercise. Being medical, I had medical questions and objectives. Did you know, for example, that at 50 below band-aids and tape do not stick? (I know; sticky side down) What I want to tell you about is Minneapolis - 1993. For 123 hrs. the temperature never got above 0. Much of that time was 50 below. If you've never been in that kind of cold, you can't imagin it. You can get frostbite crossing the street. Every two hrs. you have to start your car and go backward a few feet then back into your parking space. This is because you don't want your battery to go dead or your tires to freeze to the ground.

Have watch documentaries about the Antarctic, where it can get that cold in their winter. (Usually in the months of May - August.)
