In this country this a joke that you have the right of freedom of expression. I believe you should have the right to read or view or demonstrate against these principles when they are censored or challenged. Schools feel they have a obligation to the puritans or the far right in this country, and by the way are the minority not the majority. What are you protecting these kids from. Words are words nothing more. Pictures of human beings naked, you are born this way. Why are not are children taught this, what are you protecting them from, naive is what predators feed on. They are going to grow up and get in the jungle of life, why would you want to censor them from the real world as it is? There is no Santa Claus but there are child molesters and bad people that take advantage of people that have no idea they exist. So if feel if your worried about censorship in schools, you should put your kid in the private or so called Religious schools. By the way I found out more about sex from a girl that went to Catholic school. Go figure who does censorship really protect or what does it really accomplish?

Something I think you should know about censorship is that it's a word that people throw around without any real understanding of what it means.
A good example is the case of a blogger named Spocko, who has been criticizing the talk radio hosts of station KSFO for incendiary rhetoric. Disney/ABC, which owns the station, tried to have Spocko's blog removed from the Internet, claiming that his use of audio clips for the blog did not constitute fair use. Eventually Spocko was able to get back online. When the station began losing advertisers as a result of Spocko's efforts, the hosts, Melanie Morgan and Lee Rodgers, took three hours out of their regular programming schedule to address the issue.
But, being the extreme, right-wing conservatives that they are, they accused Spocko and other bloggers like him of censorship and wanting to start a boycott.
But if you read his blog, you will see that Spocko is NOT advocating boycotts or censorship. He is pointing out exactly what these radio hosts have said, he is making the advertisers who buy airtime on the station aware of the issue, and he is letting the advertisers decide for themselves if they wish to support programming where explosive rhetoric of this type is spoken.

Censorship of any kind is not a good idea. First, censorship will ban what I like and then it would ban what you like.
I believe in having access to ALL information, in any form, then, using my own intelligence, reject what I am offended by.
Hitler banned books and finally burned them.
And - it is impossible to censor ideas - so it's a good thing you don't want it, isn't it?

Censorship means different things to different people. I prefer to use the phrase "good taste" but that speaks only of my interpretation of what qualifies as such. What I find acceptable may seem unsuitable to some and "G-Rated" to others. I support some form of censorship for everyone but I know that to do so would be nearly impossible to get everyone to accept.

Government sponsored or government forced censorship is wrong and should never be allowed in America. As far as companies like Yahoo or whatever censoring what is posted through their services such as on this board, they should and do have every right to.

It relies upon on what that is...If that is a few thing little ones will watch, then certain. yet when no longer, then why worry making it to the position they could watch it? If that is Anime, no, because Anime could continually be loved the way it develop into dubbed [in case you want dubs, that is], and censors could no longer get interior the way of it! yet videos on television which have a litte sex and cursing...yeah. because little ones would watch that. Oh, the ballot: computing device, because you may watch what you pick once you pick, see you later because that is out and has had time to get on the internet. That and television is so lame now-a-day's. the in common words ingredient's I watch on television are Dubbed Anime, "Crossing Jordan", "step-through-step" [from the '90s], "8 common regulations...", and the information. And even as no longer some thing else is on i am going to locate some moderetly humorous Diseny or Nick instruct on and watch that....computing device each and each and every of ways.

little difficult to explore ideas without language or sexual content.
my feelings are that as a large community for the sake of children, the current methods we use for censorship are appropriate.

Well I'm glad you'll be controlling what I see and hear in the future How are you going to censor language and not ideas? What if you don't like how i express my idea? Go back to neanderthal oog and mog language? Point?
Part of this problem is your picking and choosing for others; what offends you might not bother me and vice versa. If you don't like something, don't partake in it. It' simple. But you don't have the right to decide for me.

I believe that parents have the right to control what their children watch, read and see. However, they do not have the right to control what other people's children watch, read, and see. That is what happens in schools when books are pulled off the shelves or even put on a restricted shelf. One parent or a small group of parents wants to dictate to the rest of the students and the school That can't be right.

The written word is simply the memorialization of an idea. How is it possible to censor one but not the other. Isn't that like saying you can THINK whatever you want, just don't write it down because it offends me?
