Am I the only person that gets p!ssed off by these new adverts for apples (you know the "I'm a pc", "and I'm a Mac" ones)? The only way they can sell computers it seems to me is to slag off PC's and the software they run on! And yes to all those Apple fanboys out there I typed this on a PC using Internet Explorer!

Yes, they annoy me too, all Crapple have ever done is slag off Intel based pc's and guess what they use now! the very same processors that Crapple have always hysterically claimed are inferior. The mac fanboys live in a dream world, Tucksie - I have never heard such a pile of mis-informed shite in my life - ever, every test thats ever been carried out by experts have proved that the mac is not faster at all, and certainly not twice as fast - on what do you base that ridiculous claim? did someone tell you that at school or did the fairy at the bottom of your garden tell you?
When the G5 appeared Crapple produced an advert claiming that it was the fastest personal computer in the world - it got pulled by the advertising standards authority - why? BECAUSE IT WAS BULLSHIT.
People who buy macs swear by them, mainly becuase they 'think different' and pay way over the odds for an inferior performing machine - so they just spew out acres of bullshit that tries to make everyone else believe that what they overpaid for is better.
Mac fanboys - dont you just love their seething rage at having been conned, but they are oh so funny when they then try and project that rage onto people with superior performing machines - who just happen to have saved a bunch of cash at the same time.
Bless them - they're gulible and dim - they cant help it.

You hit it on the head! We will here slack from the tried and true Mac lovers here but I gotta agree with you! I get so sick of hearin about how Macs dont get viruses, of course not! People who write malware arent interested in the puny 5 percent of the computer market that runs a Mac. Then there are the "Well my Mac Never has software problems!" Of course not! No one writes software for it! The latest laugh is the windows gimmick tho! Why would anyone be stupid enuff to by a Mac, and then a new hard drive and a copy of windows? A windows PC with the same power would cost 1/3 ans much! I would bet money that Mac users buy them tho! Comparing a Mac to a PC is like comparing a Fisher Price kids computer with a supercomputer!

Those commercials don't have a high conversion rate as I recall...
One of the major ways they sell computers is from word of mouth... I've seen a lot of people switch to Macs recently because of their friends and because they would play around with OS X at the library.
Anecdotal experience is a powerful factor... There was a guy in the dorms (years ago) with a Mac and while all the neighboring people and their Dells, HPs, Sony's and other computers got viruses, had networking problems, had issues, crashed, and so on - his never even hiccuped. Several people from that floor switched to Mac just after seeing the difference first hand. They all still use Macs and they don't have problems.
I use both and actually find the ads humorous. And many people who know how to use PCs do as well... if you look into the psychology of humor, those who get pissed off at being the butt of a joke are typically aggravated because the accusations made by the joke are true. Your being pissed off by the new adverts is really an expression of your insecurity in your own platform of choice.

I think the commercials are funny but I'm PC all the way. I do use Firefox though. My IE got a virus that I can't eradicate and closes itself every 5 minutes. Plus Firefox is just better. And the answer that said something about the slowest Mac being twice as fast as the fastest PC, where is there a 6 GHz slowest Mac? My laptop is 2.8 and my desktop at work is 3. Give me a break.

Yes MACS are faster, why? They cost MORE money and have more power in them, spend the same amount on a PC that you would spend for a MAC, and you can get comparable results. PCs are also cheaper to upgrade and take many third-party parts, Macs do not take all third-party parts. This is also a downfall for PCs, since so many third-party parts means if quality parts are not used it could cause Windows to slow down or crash (people generally just blame Microsoft for this). If you spend 2500 on a computer and sue quality parts, you can get the same speed results on PCs. Don't forget, the majority of the business world uses PCs.

Well considering they've got my dad thinking of FINALLY replacing our ancient PC (so old it even has a floppy disc drive!) I think they are great! Also I think they make people who don't know much about the differences between Macs and PCs more aware - then you can weigh up what you already know about PCs with what Apple are telling you about Macs and see what's best for you!
PS: Firefox is way better than Internet Explorer! ;)

Yes they annoy me too, console yourself with the fact that the PC guy is way funnier than the Mac guy, therefore we PCers are cooler :D that really backfired on them

Sorry to disallusion you but the slowest Mac is twice as fast as the fastest PC. It's more user friendly, more stable and best of all it's not hit by all the trojans and viruses the PCs are.
As for IE, that's the most flaky browser on the web. Change to Firefox for free and you'll see what I mean.
