You know, I had thoe contractions for about 3 weeks to a month before I gave birth. They don't mean anything. Trust me, when the right contractions hit you, you'll know. I swear, it's unmistakeable and so painful. But before you give birth, most women's bodies try to clean themselves out (i.e.-horrible diarrhea) when it knows it's going into labor, so if that happens to you for more than two days, get ready. That was the only sign I has that I was going to give birth soon, everything else felt the same.

Usually when you get your membranes stripped labour happens in the next few days/week. Just wait it out for your contractions to be closer together, and call your doctor if you think that your water breaks.
As for the mucous plug, it can be lost anywhere between 4 weeks prior to labour, or the same day that you go into labour!
Sounds like you might be on the way to having a baby! Good luck :)

My best freinds baby took 3 days to actully kick into labor. 3 days of stopping & starting contractions. It was torcher! They have their own time clocks.
it sounds like you are making some progress. Once they strip your membranes you should go into labor within 24 -48 hours - if you dont, then you missed that window. Just relax! Have sex!! I know thats likely the last thing you want to do but the hormones are what you need to get things moving!

I had the opposite problem. My contractions were very intense and I told the ob but they were just like "oh honey, you're going to have many more of these" LOL I was back there the next morning in full labor! I'll never forget the look on the nurses face!

Knowing when you are in labor is so hard. Luckily for me, I only went into labor once on my own. The other 2 times I was induced with my first and had a c-section with my third. I did learn though, when in doubt, get checked out!! Especially if you are 40 weeks!

I was off and on like you were with contractions. I went in on a evening and didn't have the baby until the next day. After they broke my water, it wasn't to far off. Hope all goes well with your experience. Mine was painful, but well worth it.
