How do you feel about reparations? I am a proud Black woman, who is totally against reparations. I don't think anybody owes anybody else for slavery or slave related incidents. White people shouldn't be held accountable for what happened, if they weren't even here to begin with. To even offer a Black person payment for slavery suggests, you feel some guilt, or you are harboring shameful thoughts towards the Black race. To accept payment from a white person, sends the message to society that slavery was ok, & that the debt has been paid. The debt can never be paid, & slavery wasn't ok! It shouldn't have happened in the first place, but the past can't be undone. What do the rest of you think? I value all opinions, even those who don't agree with me, whatever your race!

I agree with you.
I think nobody should get reparations. It happened,it was terrible, nothing can be done to tell the slaves sorry. They are the ones that were affected directly.
The people that complain about it now, just need something to complain about. It's the whole blame whitey disease.

I am in favor of reparations. Yes slavery was a long time ago and nothing can undo the wrong. However, this country benefited greatly from having a labor force of millions of unpaid workers. And, African Americans have been greatly disadvantaged due to the abuse their ancestors suffered. Not just slavery but the Jim Crow segregation which followed slavery and continued well into the 1960's. There are plenty of African Americans alive today who attended segregated (separate yet unequal) schools. They received poor educations and suffered because of it. Uneducated people are more likely to make bad choices. The debt can never be paid. I don't want or need anything from the U.S. government but I recognize the fact that so many African Americans suffered and continue to suffer due to the racism past and present of our country. I believe some attempt should be made to right that wrong. reparations are needed.

Reparations is just another Negroe with his hand out looking for another free meal.
I want reparations from all the blacks in America today whose lives were subsidized by the white taxpayers from cradle to the grave.
Their mammies receiving welfare checks for each one, free daycare, free public schooling, free lunches, food stamps, free health care, Affirmative Action, lowering the SAT requirements, the race cards, etc.
What have I received for all my tax dollars? I don't see anything but chaos and havoc.
I want my reparations NOW!

I agree....If former generations of black people were not slaves the opportunities available in America wouldn't be open to them today. That is reparation enough. What would there lives have been in Africa?

If blacks were given reparations, I'm sure they would invest it wisely.
Just like the FEMA money given to the displaced New Orleans residents; tittie bars, hand guns, bling, drugs, etc.
Just keepin' it real.

You have been brain washed into believing that historical events have no current day consequences. I don't really think of reparations are a solution to anything- but let me tell you this nation has made a FORTUNE on the backs of your ancestors. And no, it is NOT ok.

It's just another ploy by the race hucksters to get some free money. If they want reparations, they should serve as slaves for a while.
