Your (b) and (c) are spot on. another motives that could want to come less than (e) are:- - Yobs hijacking the celebration - No assure of superb climate - street activities were each and each and every of the craze even as human beings did not carry domicile activities or have television's in each and every room. Smaller communities will now celebration and percentage wine and nibbles over the nuptuals being shown on a 50" plasma exhibit television! The hype has been about the couple getting married; no longer about the exhilaration of eating jelly and ice cream with everyone interior the line - and scuffling with about who clears up and takes the bunting down afterwards!

A street party was held in a local cul-de-sac.
I had a young daughter and so felt that attending would be an occasion for her to remember. I felt that it was contrived and trite.
Knobbly knees competition, fancy dress and stuff of the post-war years. Who gets excited over cake and lemonade these days? I will go to the next street party, however, but only to celebrate the monarch's walk to the gibbet.

Well, I had yet to be born, so I don't remember that. It is possible that it will happen again, but with the current views on royalty and their status in society, I think it's less likely than at that time.

It was in 1981. I was living in Europe that year, and I remember the hoopla about the wedding.
