I've been married for 2 years and he's in the Marine Corps. Two weeks after we got married he left for Iraq for 6 1/2 months. He came home in August 2005 and was home for a year, and has been gone for a little over 5 months. My aunt always told me that to first 2 years are the absolute hardest because you are learning, really learning, about each other. Just always talk things out and never go to bed mad. Compromise is always VERY good!

I am happy you asked this question, as I find the answers enlightening, informative and I wish you the best for your new lives together. We have been married just under 2 years, and
whoever said "Nothing should be this much work" is full of it. It takes work, and then some. So.....never give up-its to easy and to many people do it......always communicate-even if you think it's not worth doing so.....compliment and reassure, afterall they say it's the little things in life that matter!!!!!

I got married in March 2004 and my advise is to keep doing the things you did before marriage or else you will be miserable and sorely dissappointed. That goes for him also.

I have been married for four years, have been with him for 7 years total. Marriage has its ups and downs but in my opinion its worth it. I will admit the first two years are not easy . If I had a choice to do it all over again I would. Hope this helps, Good luck on your wedding!!!

ten years. advice- compromise and work hard at it. Even the best marriages have a rough spot or two but you have to talk it out and work through the hard times and enjoy the great things you have everyday. Also don't ever get so comfortable that you take him for granted appreciate tall the time you have together and every thing you do for each other.

Married nearly 6 years, but together for longer.

My advice is to wait on having kids, take time to just be together, treat each other with respect always, and keep working on loving each other. Marriage takes work and it won't always be a picnic, so make sure you are marrying THE ONE.

I have been married 15 years and some years are good and some are bad but whatever you do have trust, love and honesty in the marriage, and give each other some space, communication is good and be open with each other.
