if i choose one way, can i stay work there as long i want???

Where are you from? if your from the EU you can stay however long you want and can reside here permanantly, outside the EU and you will need a work visa.

If you come in on a one way ticket, you may get turned away at the border unless you have permission to stay there. A frequent question of travellers is "do you have a return ticket" and if the answer is no, the suspicion of why you are heading to the UK is raised.
But the real answer depends on what passport you currently are using for travel.

you can only stay out of the country for 3 months without a working visa
