Would you rather people went around using the bogus and ineffective rhythm method? Life causes death, unprotected sex causes children, and inaction causes problems to remain unsolved.

First of all, life in general is a risk, we are never going to be able to escape "Risks" Getting out of bed and leaving the house in the morning is a risk. As far as sex goes, abstinence is the only thing that is risk free. Since that is not an option, knowledge is a powerful risk reducer. You have to educate yourself on which form of birth control will best suit you. Condoms break, I've never, ever heard anyone say that they feel good and would prefer to wear one. Not to mention crazy, twisted, psychos can put pin holes in them to trap their significant other (that doesn't just happen on tv). But they are one of the only things that can help prevent S.T.D's. Trust No One!!!! If a guy is willing to do it without one the first/first few times your together and tells you he never usually does that, he's LYING!!!!!!!! Get yourself tested....With any other kind of contraception (pill, IUD,Depo shot, etc) you have to see which is suitable for you. A smoker over 35 should obviously think twice about the pill. Some woman gain weight with the depo-provera shot where others have lost weight. If you end up with cervical cancer or have a stroke there would be a damn good chance that you either ignored the the possible risks or never read the warnings. Statistics show that the benefits for the pill outway the risks and then some. Plus the pill not only prevents pregnancy, it helps to prevent ovarian cysts from forming, it helps regulate womans periods which in turn helps ovulation for those who want children. It can help decrease P.M.S symptoms as well as balance hormones an individual may not be producing on her own. It's just a matter of what's right for the individual.
I have a complex 5.5 cm ovarian cyst as we speak and have been researching womans reproductive health issues for the past 6 hours, so all this stuff is fresh in my mind.
I hope you find your answer. Good Luck.
Never rely on hear say either. People will answer questions based on what they heard from a friend or an an aquaintance without ever really researching facts. Mostly with good intentions but that leads to a lot of missinformed and potentionaly dangerous advice.

Do you know how good the odds are for 99.9%?????

Strokes, yes, which is why women over 35 and smokers don't take them. Cervical cancer? It doesn't _give_ you cervical cancer. There's a small increase in the risk of it, yeah. And no method is foolproof, of course.

The thing is, the risks from various methods of birth control are far less than the risks from actually carrying a pregnancy to term, especially if you follow a doctor's advice and get regular check-ups. Modern birth control is far better than what we had back in the day, when many methods worked because they killed the potential mother. And any method that relies on people not having sex? Fails every single time. People have sex. Teenagers have sex. We are a horny, horny lot, and insisting that everyone keep their legs crossed until marriage, when the average marriage doesn't happen until at least a decade, usually more, after puberty? Is naive, at best.

A condom IS less than 90% effective. Birth control pills HAVE MANY RISKS. Nobody really knows for sure WHAT all the risks are!!

The ONLY fool-proof birth control is abstinence!! Take into consideration that you may become pregnant NO MATTER what birth control method you use!!!

There are other things you can do other than intercourse as well. Both yourself & the man you are with IS responsible IF you become pregnant. But if YOU are not READY to be a parent: then do other things BESIDES INTERCOURSE!!

There are risks to both birth control and pregnancy. They don't say there is about a 1-5 % chance that you could die giving birth, or get really sick from pregnancy (not morning sickness, serious life threatening illness). The pill has a risk of stroke, but but it is very slight,(< .5 %) especially for ladies who don't smoke, and are less that 35 years old. Abstinence even has a pretty bad track record, it works fine when people actually abstain, but most people don't, and then have no back up method (ie virgin pledges don't carry condoms). There are pros and cons, find the method that works best, and be responsible.

Well I think it is every couple's choice what method they choose to use. My boyfriend and I used condoms in the beginning but they are not 100% and I am very fertile so we decided I would try the pill again. I have never been able to take it without breakthrough bleeding until now, I love it! I know the risks and I am willing to take them. Actually I take other medication which lowers the effectiveness of the pill but we understand that and are prepared in the event of an OOPS! Do what works for you, that is why there are so many choices.

Some people are more at risk than others with BC pills. If you're at a high risk then you should discuss it with your doctor, so he can suggest something else. I haven't ever heard anyone with even a tiny degree of intelligence say that a condom is enough protection. It is, however a whole lot more effective than using nothing at all.

Birth control pills are not natural and think about what it's doing to your body. It's stopping the natural process of your reproductive organs and what they're supposed to do. It can't be good for you at all. I would try the rhythmn method in addition to using condoms and the coital interruption method (pulling out early). These things worked for me over the years. The Pill has got to be causing all sorts of problems with the female body.

Just about every medication you take has a risk of some sort, even over the counter meds have risks if you read the fine print. Tons of people smoke and look at the risks there. The only proven means of not getting pregnant that is 100% effective is to not have sex.

my personal opinion is that i dont like birth control pills i prefer the depo shot . with the depo shot you dont have a period. you dont have to remind yourself everyday to take it only one shot every three months. all birth control methods have side effects and could cause problems . and should be used with a condom as well . but think about if you dont want to use birth control thats cool but even if your man wears a condom what about stds. condoms dont prevent you from gettting stds jus like the risks with birth control . its all the same there are risks no matter what the decision .

Actually a condom is only about 90% effeective when used properly.

But that beats using nothing which is 0% effective.
