That problem was solved with multiple tv's. We now fight over how watches the high definition tv. LOL!!!

My husband and I actually 'agree' on whether we both want to watch TV and what programs we will watch together BEFORE we turn the TV on ... and we actually both have to say 'turn it off' if we are both going to bed or to our computers to 'play' ... but we both have our 'own' computers, yet when we are both at home we spend at least half of our 'time' playing the same game in the same 'world' with 'me' having 'control' on my computer and 'him' having 'control' on his. If there is something I want to watch that he doesn't, I can watch whatever it is, and he can do the same ... but we NEVER get into 'arguments' because we each have two 'separate' programs to watch at the same time. Even when we had two televisions, it was because sometimes I was too sick to get out of bed, so we'd watch the 'little TV' in the bedroom ... and only one time did we ever set the TVs 'side by side' because there were two programs on that we really wanted to see 'at once' ... so 'nobody' is in 'control' of our remote, but I tend to be the one who actually uses it more often, because I 'know it better' than my husband does.

My husband does coz its he who cares what is on the TV. I never sit still long enough to complete a show anyways.

when i lived at home, my dad did. It was just because he works to earn the money that bought the tv. and It's just respect to let the elder watch tv for a while.

My boyfriend b/c it is his T.V. and he pays for the apartment we share. I will let him have his remote glory!
