I fell in love with a man but haven't started a relationship with him. We have been good friends for years and he treats me like gold, funny , charming, good with kids, helpful, sweet, and always says the kindest things. The problem is he is a severe alcoholic and drinks all day but never even looks drunk. He spends a lot of money on beer, but other than that he is truly Mr. Perfect. Would you marry him?

I have an family member who's an alcoholic but the sweetest person on earth, so i understand. But whats also true is that you would do anything for a loved one. Give it a try its very well possible that thru your help you can be a positive light on his situation, and help him to overcome his drinking. Don't give up just yet.

I would not, because alcohol would be his bed partner for as long as he's still an alcoholic. Alcohol would be his number one priority, so his other needs, my needs, and the relationship come under that.

It is, however, still your choice. What do you feel about the fact that "He spends a lot of money on beer"? Do you think that the positive things that he exhibits would sit right the fact that he's an alcoholic who spends a lot of money on beer?

Another consideration is: have you ever been with him when he's sober? Does he act very differently than when he's drunk?

Everyone has something wrong with them. Alcoholism isn't that rare nowadays, so if he's perfect for you, give him a chance, but make sure that if you want him to stop drinking, you tell him so early on. That could easily screw up a marraige, relationship, or anything for that matter.

What is he like when and if he is ever sober? He might be the opposite of what you see when he is drunk. I'm not willing to take that chance.

No way in the world! You couldn't pay me to go out with him.

When he's drunk, he is probably not the man you like.
