and also in the summertime is it more expensive to have air conditioners or central air. I'm moving into an apt with central heat and central air and i have never lived somewhere with this, i am concerned about how high this is gonna be ?

Gas heating is certainly cheaper, but only because of the current oil situation. If there becomes a problem with oil supplies, prices will rocket. While this will affect electricity prices too, areas receiving power from nuclear fuel will be more stable.

I think that gas heat is cheaper than central electric heating.

For air conditioners, they are both run by electricity; however, I think that central cooling is probably more efficient than space (room) cooling.
