I have a 98 Dodge Avenger ES 6 cylinder. On only very COLD days, when I start my car, it would make a very loud screeching noise. This will go on for a few minutes, but eventually stops when the car has had a chance to warm up. I hope that it is nothing since it only makes the noise when the car is COLD, and then it stops. It never makes the noise when the weather is warmer. Should I get it checked?

There is a good chance it is your fan belt.some times spraying it with WD40 or similar lubricant will fix the problem. If it does you may have to eventually change your fan belt.Hope this helps.

Drive belt to the alternator is loose, or worn out.
