People join political parties in the hope that they will eventually become part of the government and rise to a `responsible` position in the party and in govenment. So I would say that power corrupts all who walk the corridors, with the exception of very few.

Power corrupts. Rare is the government that isn't power mad and corrupt.

Just think about it: Don't you think you're right? On just about any issue, don't you think we'd be better off if more of us held the same opinion as you? (No, I'm wrong, but I'm going to hold onto my opinion anyway. Duh.)

People in power get that way either because they want to help the country (they think their opinion is good for the country), or because they are completely selfish and see an opportunity to enrich themselves.

Sometimes leaders are tempted to cheat "just a little," or ensure those with their opinions stay in power, for the good of the country (or to cover up their own misdeeds). And corruption grows.

It of course starts with leaders and becomes part of the "Trickle down theory" Graft and Greed are contagious
and the usual senario is for others to get on board as opposed to getting off the Train (of corruption). The real problelm is not the Powers to be but the lack of initiative to change by the common people. Radical change is rare these days. There are many voices but few act upon their
choices. {NO MORE BOSTON TEA PARTIES}
