Well Black Holes don't impact your live very much other than being the subject of some good science fiction novels. Antimatter, on the other hand does impact your life. I urge you to look at the Proton-Proton chain (see the link below). This is the process of fusion that drives the sun. Note that the particle called a "positiron" is antimatter and will eventually collide with an electron and the two will be converted totally to energy as part of the sun's internal engine. Since the sun is the root source of all energy and life on this planet, I wouldn't say that it is a load of fuss about nothing.

No they are real.
Black holes: WHen a huge star like Beletese or Sirius Gets to the point of becomeing a supernova it will explode and if the density is high enough the star will fall in upon itself and become infinte desity creating a black hole.
Anti matter: Destroys matter on contact. Thought to be used to make a wormhole.

well for now it is pure science.
those discoveries do not have any practical developments at the moment, but do you realise how much our understanding of the universe and its laws has evolved in the last century.
i believe that science is a quest for god, the understanding of everything.
but contrary to religion, science supposes something to be true, tries to prove it wrong and if unsuccessful, considers its hypothesis to be right. until a smart *** comes along and challenges the established belief.
all that reveals to us the incredible complexity and tremendous beauty of life , the universe and everything.
