I have stopped drinking coffee but is it ok to have a cup of tea? (Just a regular Tim Hortons tea?) Doesn't tea have a lot less caffeine than coffee?

New research shows that a minimal amount of caffeine can actually be beneficial while pregnant. I was pregnant in 2005 and my Dr said I could have 1 cup of coffee a day but that meant no other sources of caffeine included (i.e. chocolate, sodas, ice tea). I drank 2 small cups of half caf and I have a beautiful, smart and healthy 16 month old girl.

I need to add that certain herbal teas like green tea you should stay away from. Green tea is great but it inhibits cell production and when youre pregnant your body is producing cells to make a baby. This is what I read so I did not drink it. Before you drink or take any herbal ingredients I would just double check to see what the benefits are.

Yes it is okay to drink tea during pregnancy. Just limit how much tea you drink. My doctor told me that I could safely drink caffeine as long as it was less than 3 cups a day. Here is a website that gives some information on how much caffeine is safe. http://parenting.ivillage.com/pregnancy/psafe/0,,midwife_3q27,00.html
The only thing I would watch out for is certain types of herbal teas. Some herbal teas may be harmful for the baby or could cause you to go into labor. Hope this helps. Congratulations.

YES, tea has less caffeine than coffee. Caffeine is not the best thing for your baby, but it's not likely to be a problem... keep it under 2 cups a day and you should be fine!

Yes, but still limit the amount you drink. The doctor's recommend no more than 2 cups of a caffeinated beverage a day. I drink tea too, but drink water first and foremost. It is the best thing for you to drink!

Well l did.. l must of drank about 50 cups of tea a day. lt wouldn`t hurt a bit. pop is okay to drink as well. but try to drink alot of milk just so you have enough milk in you to breast feed your baby. but l find that coffee has more caffeine then tea does. look at the one side of a tetley tea box and lt tells you how much caffeine that`s in tea. l can tell you coffee has more then tea.

Actually, tea has more caffeine if I am informed correctly. But, decaf tastes just as good in my opinion. Also, its fun trying some of the flavored teas that are decaf. My favorites were always the fruit ones.

You might want to check with your doctor first, but, my doctor told me it was OK to have my morning caffeine (1 cup), so long as I didn't drink the pot or follow it with all kinds of caffeine sodas.
Each doctor is different and of course you want to listen to the advice of your doctor.

I don't think you should have to go search for another question when you just wanna know an answer.

Yes, it okay to drink tea. Herbal tea is good for relaxing, but I don't really know of a tea that will also gove you energy. I don't know if green tea has something harmful in it. If your in pain, or having cramps or something, tea with hney makes you sleepy, but herbal tea will numb it a bit, it also make the baby happy! ^_^

My Dr says one caffeinated drink per day is OK. So some tea now and then is fine. Also, try to see if the tea you like is available in decaf. I find it tastes the same.
