Saying God Bless You When Somebody Sneezes. When the great plague swept Europe., sufferers began sneezing violently which was a sign of death. The Pope therefore passed a law requiring people to bless the sneezer. At the same time, it was expected that anybody sneezing would cover their mouth with a cloth or their hand. This was obviously to stop the spreading of the disease, but many believed that it was to keep the soul intact. Sneezing 'into the air' would allow the soul to escape and death would be imminent. Up until this time, the opposite was true. Those who sneezed were congratulated, as it was believed that a violent sneeze would expel evil from their bodies.

Bad luck superstitions:

Walking under a ladder
Opening an umbrella indoors
Having a black cat cross your path
Breaking a mirror

You can cure bad luck by tossing salt over your right shoulder...

And there are a lot more... I'm mostly curious to know how many of these came about.

My great grandmother was very superstitious. She truly believed all the things I'm fixing to give you.
If your ears are burning, someones talking about you.
If your nose itches, someones comin' with a hole in their breaches.
If your palm itches, you'll be coming into a lot of money.
For brides: If you marry in white-you're pure and right.
If you marry in blue-you'll always be true.
If you marry in red-you wish yourself dead.
If you marry in yellow-you're ashamed of your fellow.
If you marry in green-you're ashamed to be seen.
If you marry in black-you wish yourself back.
Also, do you know that most people who are superstitious about the black cat crossing their path will turn and go the other way . But that would be crossing the CAT'S path if they kept going straight when a cat crosses in front of them. The cat crossing YOUR path would happen behind you. Where you've already walked is YOUR path.
Good Luck and have fun.

Stevie said it. The problem with gun control is that criminals don't obey the law. gun control only hinders the law abiding citizens right to defend himself. The main reason the Japanese did not try to invade the west coast is because they new most Americans owned guns. Hitler instituted gun control and look what he was able to do when all the Jews were dearmed. Australia did the same thing recently. All citizens were required to surrender their guns. Crime has gone up like crazy. The law abiding no longer have the means to protect themselves. Murder is up over 350%, robbery is 400% higher because criminals have easy pickins. We will face the same demise if obama makes his way into the White House. I also have my CCW and believe me, I WILL exercise my right to defend myself and my family from a would be robber/rapist/killer. If you want gun control, go to NYC or Illinois.
