I'm not sure who you are talking about, but I am 43 and refuse to let age take over. My kids are 22, 20 and 17. They think I am crazy and their friends just think that I am just the greatest. But If you let your age get to you then you have given up on your life. I have my days though. When I feel forty three and I'm sure I look it too. But most days I am not a day over 26. That was the perfect age for me and that is where I am staying. Stay young and take care of yourself

You are being very judgemental. When I turned 40, I still took pride in my appearance, same when I hit 50. I still get stopped in the street and whistled at which is great for my ego. I take care of my looks - naturally (no enhancements or plastic surgery). Just yesterday, a young (perhaps 30) man complimented me on my hair and "pretty eyes." Actually, I'm not vain although it sounds like I am. As we get older we have to work harder to stay looking young but it's also all in the mind. A woman over 40 is not over the hill. We are confident, sexy, fit, bright, aware, wise and don't give a rat's **** what people think of us. Youth is wasted on the young.

What are you? 12 years old?
Everyone has the freedom to choose what they eat and how often they exercise. This is America and you can choose to eat what you want and there are no laws governing exercise.
I know 20 year olds that smoke, live on junk food and couldn't do 10 minutes of cardio if they had to. Please don't think youthfulness automatically means physically fit, it doesn't.
The highest bad cholesterol numbers I have ever heard of was from a 19 year old GIRL. My grandmothers cholesterol is lower than hers!
I certainly hope when you are 40 you remember being naive and judgmental in a public forum. I'm sure you'll be very proud.

Just who thinks that? I'm turning 40 in exactly one month, and I have no plans to stop taking care of myself! If anything, I plan to treat myself better, exercise more, keep my BP under control like I should, stop getting upset over stupid issues, etc.
A long time ago, 40 meant the end of life for many people... not anymore! I may be turning 40, but I AM NOT DEAD!!

I agree, I am 40 and I think of this age as my second chance to set the stage for my older years. I piddled away my teens and twenties, but now I see what that has cost me, so I am hitting the gym, hitting those weights to save what bone and muscle mass I DO have. So, so many people have given up by now....but there are many many gym rats like me out there too. I care not about my appearance, I just want my body to be functional, to do what I want it to do now, so maybe, I can still do it later.

I'm 40 and I've decided to take better care of myself both mentally and physically. I just started back to college last semester. I'm a firm believer in the old saying "Use it or Lose it."
I think that includes the need to continue learning. I also believe in the quote "I maybe getting older, but I refuse to grow up."

To me it seems that these people relied on their youth for a long time , when we are young we are most likely to take advantage of the fresh looking skin that is wrinkle free! If that what you mean!
Unfortunately a slob will always be a slob if you mean it in regard of shabby clothes a younger person can blame it on the fashion industry but an older person needs all help that they can get to improve their appearance!
