No, Deron williams should have made the all star team. He's second in the league in assists on a team that lead his division. Baron and paul arent on playoff teams so thats why I counted them out. Paul also missed alot of games because of his injury.

This hard to answer considering that I like Tony Parker and I'm happy he made the All -Star team. However I do think Chris Paul, Deron Williams and Baron Davis are better points guards then him. But despite this, I think he made it because he can be exciting to watch sometimes with the way he penetrates and gets to the basket.

Parker has helped guide the Spurs to three NBA championships, and he's better at penetrating, and getting to the basket, then ANY other point guard in the league. He's also dishes out his share of assists. I challenge anyone who doesn't think Parker should be on the all-star team to watch him play night in, and night out, for a stretch of 12 straight games, and you'll see why the coaches around the league picked him as a reserve. After Nash, and Iverson, he's without question, the third best point guard in the west. The guy can score anytime he wants, and if he wasn't trying to pass to Duncan, and Ginobili as much as he does, he could easily be one of the leagues top ten scorers. Should Tony Parker be an allstar? Of course, and he is, for the second year in a row.

The point guard spot gets augmented by having a good team, more so than any other position. Assists come easier because better shooters will make more baskets. Similarly as the smallest guy on the floor (generally) and although they can sometimes penetrate and make their own shots; they often need powerhouse players to draw doubleteams so they can drill open jumpers.
The Spurs are one of the best teams in the league still, and Parker benefits from that. I think players like Paul and Davis who don't have as much of a supporting cast are more of your true all stars.
