I was wondering. You hear people tell you not to drink soda, but why do some tell you it's okay to drink tea. Doesn't it have a lot of caffine? I was just curious.

I know what is good. I drink alot of it. However, that was not my question. Thank you for those opinions, but my question is about tea not water.

Tea contains anti-oxidants which assist your body to rid free radicals (chemicals in our system from the environment etc) - herbal teas do not contain caffeine and there are some very good ones, try lemon and ginger tea, its yummo. Theres so many kinds of herbal teas, camomile is very good to assist calmness and help you sleep better too. Get small packs of different ones from health store and see what you like best. Normal tea is far better for you than soda (I think you mean fizzy drinks - I live in Australia and we call it soft drink or "softies") We have a great drink called Fuze, it contains no artificial stuff and is 99% natural fruit juice, it has a great fizz and is recommended by health experts as an alternative to the usual "softies" - they are full of sugar and the diet ones are no better in as far as artificial stuff in them - normal coke is so bad and diet coke is not allowed to be drank by Air Force Pilots here as it contains Aspartane which can cause poor judgement - its addictive. Enjoy 3 or 4 cups of tea a day, black with lemon or white with milk, drink at least 8 glasses of spring water per day - its so much better for you, your skin, your health and your unborn baby. Soda drinks do not assist with dehydration and make it worse.

Some teas have just as much caffine as sodas, but there is less sodium in tea than in soda. Also you can sweeten tea with splenda instead of sugar. Tea is better than sodas, but water is the best bet. You can add flavors to water and it will make things alot easier if you were to become high risk. This is why they say no sodas.. sodium is the main reason and artificial dyes too. Good luck.

Note: just make sure what teas are safe during pregnancy. Green tea can cause birth defects.

First of all, green tea does not cause birth defects. That was a ridiculous statement. However, high levels of caffeine during pregnancy might. Most doctors recommend no more than the equivelant of one cup of coffee per day,but they say that might even be too much.Black tea has the most caffeine, approx. 1/2 to1/3rd the amount in 1 cup of coffee.Green tea has even less than that.Herbal teas are good during pregnancy, but there are many herbs you should avoid.Get one specifically for pregnancy. Also, honeybush tea is the safest during pregnancy and the only tea you should give young children.I highly recommend it,plus it is delicious. You should definitely avoid soda, especially diet sodas because sorbitol and other suger replacers are known to cause birth defects. If you want soda, drink it sparingly and not very often.Good luck.

Tea is certainly better than soda, since you can drink it without sugar. It still ahs caffeine in it, but not nearly as much. However, if you're going to buy tea in a bottle, know that it may have just as much sugar added as soda. Better still to drink water, or if you need the sugar, a small serving of 100% fruit juice.

It has the same amount, if not more, of caffeine, and it's not good when you're pregnant. It's fine once or twice a day, but it's best to cut it all out. The sugar in soda is what makes it a little bit worse. Try drinking all natural no caffeine teas without sugar.

Tea is fine. Especially if its decaffinated and sugar free or a hint of sugar. Tea doesn't have nearly as much as coffee and soda. You are allowed to drink caffine while pregnant. You can have a soda or two glasses of regular coffee. But, tea is a much better option...

I use Decafinated black tea and it's great! It has all the zing of regular tea...minus the bad stuff.

Depends on the tea-some have a ton of caffeine--others have just a littel andsome are herbal with no caffeine at all----also--the carbonation in sodas and the sugar (almost 9 teaspoons per can) are also bad--they ruin your teeth and your stomach lining if you have too much...So yes--if you drink a low caffeine or no caffeine tea--it is much better...(as long as you don't put in too much sugar!!)

Tea is a natural ingredient found in nature. It has many beneficial effects for you body.
Caffeine is bad. in fact, it is one of the most deadly poison in the world, but it really doesn't do any harm to you because it is secreted out of your body thru the urinary bladders rather quickly before it can take effect.
I think soda is more harmful, not because of the caffeine but because of the acid and the massive amount of sugar that babies cannot handle. Remember the dosage/km for them is much higher than for you because they are so much smaller. Just check everything with your doctor because you don't want to take any chances, and remember everything in moderation.

I wouldn't worry about it too much as long as you drink plenty of water as well. Your drinking soda isn't going to hurt the baby. There are plenty of women who drink lots of coffee durring pregnancy and it's got tons of caffine and is very dehydrating.
Caffine free tea is really a good choice as is fruit juice.
I always like to water down a bit of fruit juice if I don't feel like drinking straight water.

Teas with out caffine are probably OK, but you need to check the herbs in the tea to make sure it's not on the list of Herbs to stay away from in larger quantities.
