Why is working in an office like being at school?

However hard you try, working in an office - or anywhere for that matter - still feels like school. Bosses watching you, keeping an eye, assessing. You clock watch (however much one enjoys their job)... never seem to relax... Then when you socialise - you only talk about work!!

I would take going back to school anyday; learn and you are fine; but working, you have to deal with all kinds of crazies and put a smile on your face; people are conspiring for your job , your pay etc; school sit at the desk , listen and no problem; ask a silly question to eat up time; etc ; school is a breeze compared to the work environment (more vacation, snow days, time off etc) Teacher - I'm back!!

I agree with Susan. School is much more relaxing than an office job!
Shorter hours at school, you're around your friends all day.
Work is much more stressful. Always thinking about pleasing your boss and wanting more money. No job is safe, you could lose it at any time.

We're in the wrong job, I feel the same way. Maybe need to find work that does't involve working in an office?

Maybe look at returning to college or university? That would maybe take your mind off work ?

The one job high school prepares best for, I think, is indeed the office. Sit still, watch the clock, listen to your boss, do what you're told.

I work in an office and my day is nothing like that at all - I think you must be in the wrong place.

Are you at one of those mean stress job. If I were you I would quite and get a new job.
