Uncontrolled diabetes, high blood pressure, incompetent cervix, signs of preterm labor, high number of living children, bleeding, infection, abnormal vital signs, intrauterine growth restriction, Dr's knowledge of unsafe working environment, anything that additional stress could cause the mother or the infant to be jeopardized. =)

Incompetent cervix. My cervix is opening from the inside and the bag of waters is bulging down into it, so doing alot could cause it to rupture and my last baby was born early because of the same reason, so I have to be on bed rest. Also High blood pressure can be another reason.

I had high blood pressure, and my ankles were swelling so I had to stay off my feet. I was on complete bed rest for the last 4 weeks of my pregnancy.

i had a placenta previa, or low lying placenta, and i never stayed home and was never told to. i was a waitress at the time and work until the day i had my son. bed rest is one thing, but i don't know why they would tell you to stay home.

Early dilation, placenta previa, high blood pressure, placental abruption (where it begins to tear away from the uterine wall), a labor that they have already tried to stop...I'm sure there are others...

If your doc senses or knows you have had a history of miscarriage, they will request that you do that. Also, if you have a history of C-sections or low-birth-rate babies, the doc may request this measure in an effort to try to prevent one or both.
