Vietnam

Look at Jeff c.'s answer, he is actually right if you count the ceasefire as a mere peaceful delay in a now 50+ year war with north korea. Brief border skirmishes did occur in the sixties and seventies.

The American Revolution, from 1775 or 1776 to 1781-82. it lasted over 5 years.
They also talk about Vietnam being long but it went from a "police action" from 1963-1968 to a full scale war from 1968-1972. WW2 went from 1941-1945 and WW1 went from 1917-1918. korea went from 1950-1953 and technically wea re still at war with them since the treaty and peace declaration has never been signed.

If you mean actual fighting, it was Vietnam. If you mean over all, it's Korea. We still have troops covering the DMZ today.......
