Hi everyone. I had Mirena inserted yesterday, the pain wasn't too bad getting it inserted. How long do the cramps and uncomfortable feeling last after insertion? I hope they go away soon!! Thanks so much

I had more pain in my back after I had it inserted then cramping. It lasted for about 3-4 days. After that no pain at all.

Which is the Mirena? I don't know which one I have but WOW you are lucky that the pain wasn't bad at "installation". My pain was severe -- it lasted the afternoon through the night. I think that it ached and dissipated within 24 hours and by 48 hours it was gone.

I dont remember bad cramps when I got mine but I know things are different for different people. I know they do it when you are on your period so it might just be affecting that. I'd at least wait a few more days or so to let your period subside and if your cramps are too bad maybe talk to your doctor and see what they think. Maybe that isnt the right birth control for your body or maybe a perscription to help ease those pains might help.

The cramps can last anywhere from 24 to 48 hours. Anything longer than 48 hours requires a visit to your doctor.

I had anywhere from mild to stronger cramps for quite a while (3-6 wks). Keep in mind everyone is different. I had it done to stop my periods which did not work, after 10 months I had it removed.

I would make an appointment with the doctor. My sister in law had the same problem she just went to the doctor a week ago and found out she was pregnant but the baby was in her tube. Not to make u panic or anything but just from finding this out from her and she was on the merana her symptoms were the same as urs. Please just make an appointment and make sure something serious isn't happening! Goodluck
