The answer is Abbott and Costello. They were inducted into the baseball hall of fame for their Who's on First schtick. It is a trivial pursuit answer too.

Nobody. Every member of the Hall of Fame had a connection to some form of organized baseball (whether it be the Majors or the ***** Leagues).

The only person i can find that even comes close is Henry Chadwick, a journalist in the late 1800s who wrote extensively about the game and created a number of statistical categories but never worked directly for a baseball team or one of the leagues.

This is an incorrect question. The "answer"is Abbott and Costello but they're not "enshrined" in the Hall of Fame. Their routine "Who's on First" is on display but they are not members of the Hall of Fame like Hank Aaron or Babe Ruth.

So there is no actual answer.

I don't know the answer to this. However, I've seen this question before and I'm not sure if this is where you were headed but....

...the answer is not Abbott and Costello. They are not enshirned in the Hall of Fame, but there is a small display about their "Who's of First?" routine.

Doubleday isn't in the Hall so he isn't a choice. I checked the HOF webpage and it lists them all by categories. It has to be someone from the pioneer/executive list but they all relate. The players and umpires obviously have ties. SO I think this is a trick question.

I believe it would be Alexander Cartwright for developing the rules and Henry Chadwick for developing the scoring system.
