For some unknown cause I stopped having a period, I went without for about a year possibly longer then my doctor had me do a progesterone challenge 10mg for 7 days to see if that would induce my period, well not only did i get it, but it was pretty heavy with alot of cramping probably due to all the unterine lining building up over the past year. Anyways she wants me to start using progesterone cream every month the last 10 days of my cycle to see if that gets me anywhere, 2 weeks after my period stopped I had spotting for 2 days then it suddenly stopped could it be i had ovulated? or possibly implantation bleeding? Is it even possible to ovulate after the first period you have had in a long time? have had everything checked out that would be the root cause to missing several periods and everything was perfect, not PCOS nor menopausal only 20 years old.....so what do you think the spotting was? 21+ please or experienced...do not want stupid comments

Having been on this road I can only tell you to seek out a reproductive endocronologist. You aren't going to get any answers with your current doctor.

I too suffered with irregular periods and just felt something wasn't right. My doc assured me I was fine and my hubby had a sperm problem. Even did tests on hubby's sperm and found he was nearly sterile. After a year of this crap we sought out an r.e. who operated a fertility clinic close by our home.

We found that I had a problem while hubby did not. My husband almost undewent a testicular operation to open his ducts to produce more sperms when it was COMPLETELY unnecessary. In fact, it was a lab error that his sperm count was so low. It seems after an hour the sperm degrade and die. Even more so if they aren't kept at special temps. The r.e. had a lab right there and tested it three times (different occassions) and the results were fine.

Please, for your own sanity seek out someone who is specialized in reproductive care!! I hate it when women get shuffled around by inexperienced doctors. I still don't understand why they don't refer us to specialists like a reproductive endocronologist...

I am 20 yrs old, and from the time I was 13 and got my period it has been out of whack. Largely due to ovarian cysts. Anyways, From the time I was 18 until now, I would have a period for three months, then nothing for up to 5 months. Never knew what to expect. My doctor put me on birth control and that has helped some, but I am on my 2nd month again no period. It is VERY frustrating, especially with the thought of whether or not you could be pregnant. Well, my doctor told me not to worry about it, but something you (or I) could have done is have the lining of your uterus lasered. It kind of cleans it out. It is some acronym that starts with a D, Like a DNP or something. My stepmom suggested the progesterone cream to me as well, she is big into homeopathic treatment, but I never followed through. If you are against birth control, the cream may help. They used to always say I'd grow out of it, but it's been 7 years!

I know you are concerned and anxious to start a family but you really need to see a Reproductive Endocrinologist--it doesn't sound like you trust your drs. judgement very much or you would have asked her about the spotting.
