Check out the outlet that your vaccume was plugged into. Then check the prongs on the cord of the machine. There are no fuses in the machine, and most likely a bad connection!

Kirby's have safety switches that do not allow the kirby to run if the nozzle is not on correctly or if the bag boot is not on securely. Many times this is all it is. At other times, it is the extension cord. It could even be the internal safety switch that has "broken" . I see now that the newer kirby Sentria has a circuit board inside. I am not aware of how this helps, but suspect it is to get more electricity efficiency usage. Kirbys have always been very efficient electrically. When it won't run, first check to see if you have the nozzle on correctly or if the bag base (boot) is not on securely engaging the inside safety switch.

I got one too and am very disappointed in mine! It's alway's messing up. Every time you have to take the front off the use another tool, it never goes back on very easy. I have to mess with it for 30 minutes before I can get it to work again. Sometimes if you don't have everything hooked up JUST RIGHT it will not turn on. Check that.
