my wife and I have been together 5 years and have had 2 miscarriages. My wife is wondering if it was because she was taking ginger to combat the morning sickness. She has 5 very healthy kids from a previous marriage and no miscarriages.

Any advice??

Ginger is fine. I took it to help my morning sickness. I have had 3 healthy pregnancies and Im 33 weeks with my 4th. Im sure its not the ginger causing it.

Ginger is a venal dilate and like aspirin can thin the blood - could be a factor. If she is concerned switch to soda crackers and plain soda water the next time it could be a concern. Has she spoken to a Naturopath for precare so she is in her peak of health when she conceives again-stress can be a factor as well and it is important to have all the right foods in your daily diet before you get pregnant as well as after. Good Luck!

Doctors recommend it so I don't think so. I would definitly mention the miscarriages to the doctor. There could be underlying factors. Ginger is okay.

as far as i know ginger is totally harmless although it doesn't completely help with the morning sickness. . why don't you try other natural remedies if you have reason to suspect that it could be to do with ginger

hmmmm I don't think so. I must have consumed plenty of ginger when I was pregnant with my daughter. I don't think that has anything to do with it. Maybe she should go to the doctor and have test ran to see what is going on. Good luck to you both.

Ginger isn't known to have these effects. Have you been to see a fertility doctor?
