I think people are more worried about fashion and how they look than being polite, although they look like idiots being so impolite.

Some people wear hats or head coverings for religious reasons. Aside from that, I agree with you. Polite people take off their hats (or put their hoodies down) when indoors.

...However, that said, I guess you've never been to Texas or any other western state where the "cowboy culture" is big. If you go into one of these western states and ask a guy wearing a western-type hat (or, alternatively, a baseball hat with something like a "John Deere" logo on it) to take off his hat indoors, and imply that he's rude if he doesn't, them's fightin' words, son! I don't know why they don't take off their hats, but they don't.

It is polite for a man to take off his hat indoors. However, with women it can be considered a fashion statement.

Should Jehova's witnessses come knocking on my door when they don't even know me? The polite thing to do would be to go the hell away.
Explain to me this, just how it it rude or disrespectful to wear a hat? It's a societal preconception that you've been duped into believing is actually frought with meaning. Open your mind, your a $ $ will follow.

Each person grew up a different way. I personally see nothing wrong with it IF it doesn't distract another person's view of something (ie: when people are in a church, I wish the wearer would take into consideration that the height, netting, or feather on their hat might be distracting the person / people behind them from seeing whose speaking). Some people like to see whose talking to them.

Yes, it is polite to take them off. However, in this country, people can do whatever they want. Society has been changing what is "polite" and acceptable, especially over the past few years.
