The main good thing is that you are essentially self employed, you get out of it what you put into. The negatives can be evening and weekend work, depending on what kind of real estate you specialize in. There are many different facets, residential, commercial, leasing etc. It also can take awhile to get started and to build up business, so you need a little financial cushion to begin with. Many people start with leasing, because it easier to generate an income flow early on. It is interesting work, if you like people.
