I can understand reporting someone who asks stupid question, but putting "reported" makes even less sense. Has anyone ever gotten a violation for this? I have been reporting, but I never know if it works.

It works. Not always when it should & sometimes when it shouldn't. Seems like nothing gets attention more than the issue of reporting.
My guideline for reporting is only if it is spam or advertising. At one time I reported those who were especially insulting to others on this site. Then I realized I was practicing censorship by doing this. In other words, I recognised my own hypocrisy & stopped. I may not like what you have to say, but I recognise you have a right to say it.

retaliation is the reason behind privateness. Yahoo is afraid that each and each body that receives reported that there should be retaliation and hate mail throughout. Now, as far because the region being a knowledgable web site, If a question jointly with this one is requested with the point of spreadin awareness that could help others, then you absolutely havent violated the guidelines. you may attraction. You win some, you lose some. I have gained some myself and performance gained some for others.

Well, theoretically, if you report them, their question should be deleted. It really doesn't matter if you write "Reported!".
I totally agree with you though, it's stupid. But reporting those people is just a waste of energy.

I've never done that, but, respectfully, the answerers who have answered a question with "Reported!" DID answer the question...it just wasn't in the anticipated form.
