Ok, I will give you a very simple, layman's terms difference:
- Socialism has a government whereas communism in it's pure sense has a 'control group'.
The government under socialism regulates the main industries required for standard living... industries that tend to end up as monopolies and ppl are forced to pay into in order to liVe. IE, energy (everybody has to pay their power bill), healthcare (everybody eventually has to get it), etc...
Communism, once again in its pure form, says that the ppl are a complete democracy and decide. There is a control group that maintains the military, police, etc... Wages, etc.. are distributed equally throughout society.

It's complicated. George Orwell was a Socialist that hated Communism as well as Totalitarianism. People often blur the two, claiming Socialism leads to Communism, which is not true. "Socialists" like Hugo Chavez is not socialist at all-he's communist. The Nazi "socialist" party was not socialist at all-neither was it communist-it was fascist. Consider Chile and Socialist President Bachelet. Their government is much more similar to the US than it is to so-called socialist Venzuelen government. Chile has many trade partners and participates in NAFTA as well as European and Asian countries. They have a universal healthcare system(actually two-one is "premuim and participants pay for).
And China couldn't really be called strictly communist any longer either-a bit of capitalism there...

Socialism is utilising taxes accumulated from the ppl in accordance to their earnings, to pay for amenities for those in choose. Social risk-free practices is an occasion, so it is not all undesirable. We pay into it,and if and as quickly as we choose tips, we acquire funds or amenities from the government. nationwide wellness care is yet another. the concern isn't with the belief, yet with the quantity of it. All governments have some degree of socailism. Communism is government possession of the ability of manufacturing . All significant industries are owned and controlled by the government. IT grew to become into an extremely undesirable theory and grew to become into out dated practically before if grew to become into put in place interior the Soviet union. iT demands lots beaurocracy, and is a nightmare to manage. It additionally stifles opposition and examine and progression, simply by fact the earnings purpose is non existent. AS with Soviet Russia ,that's doomed to be overwhelmed under its own weight,or progressively morph right into a Capitalist gadget as that's doing in China. Communist international places coaching an exterme sort of socialism. The confusion comes from the actuality that communist international places have used the be conscious "socialist" of their propaganda as a euphemism for Communism.

Actually, in my opinion socialism is a product of communist doctrine. Socialism has to do with the idea that society is inherently not equal and therefore, it is the govt's reposibility to provide basic needs for those who cannot otherwise do so. For example, many western countries have social welfare programs even though they are inherently free market econoomies.
Whereas communism is market driven i.e. the govt. owns any/all income producing aspects of society and holds it in trust for the equitable benefit of the people. So this is about equitable re-distribution of wealth....

In all honesty those terms are often used through each other and interchangeable. However classically, the rift between socialist and communist happened and is that socialists want to bring the socialist utopia, where the production means and all wealth is in the hands of the people through parliamentary means and communist want a more revolutionary approach. As you can clearly see the terms got mixed up over the last century.Like Cuba calling itself mostly socialist while it had a military revolution. to form the government that is in power now
