A lot of people are going to answer you saying it's not possible, it's just alchemy, etc. - and they are wrong. They just know only what they know, and have outdated information.

Elemental transformation can be achieved on the atomic level. It takes a lot of energy. Energy takes money. Even making gold from lead doesn't pay for the process.

Let's put it this way: all the gold in the world didn't come from nowhere.

If you want to do a project about turning lead into gold, your best bet is to focus on nuclear fusion that occurs in stars. Scientists generally believe that this is the process that produced just about every element that's around today.

Which is why famed scientist Carl Sagan was so fond of pointing out that we are all 'star dust' - if anything heavier than hydrogen was once manufactured in the centre of a star, he would be absolutely right!

Scientist have been successful turning lead into gold but they needed a cyclotron to do it. Not quite something you could do in a science fair.

You should select a different project, unless your intention is to explain how something can be done.

It is possible for lighter elements to become heavier elements. It happens in stars. This is where metals come from.

As for actually doing this yourself. It simply is not realistic or practical.

Figure out how to get 79 protons, 117 neutrons, and 79 electrons together either by fission or fusion and I'll buy the technology from you for 50 large.

If it were possible, lots of people would have been doing before now. There might be a chemical procedure that you could perform to make this happen, but it would cost more to do than the gold is worth.

If you figure it out though, you know, let us know. :)

the skill of organic idea imbued upon the recommendations can artwork together upon the organic idea starting up of our reality. through some fluke you slowed time down out of your attitude by way of a sub-unsleeping favor to finish that. utilising some type of subliminal programming targeted on your temporal state would recreate your journey.

Alchemy and transmutation are not valid avenues for a science fair project, since they are about as close to true science as astrology.

I think that doesn't qualify as science now days.
