The outbreak of bird flue at the end of last week was in a Bernard Matthews Turkey farm in north-east England.
The problem with bird flu is once it manages to mutate and infect a human as it already has in several places around the world - it is then very easy for the flu to spread through simple everyday human to human contact - It is contagious.
Personally I think the media down play bird flu and it could actually wind up being a pretty damn big epidemic if it spreads, it must be pretty damn serious for them to kill 150 thousand birds at the weekend - who remembers how foot and mouth ravaged peoples livelihoods a few years back? Bird flu could be worse....
The UK government have already stockpiled vaccines just in case they decide to administer them as a precautionary measure...

I don't understand why this person is even hospitalized. Even if by some fluke he does have bird flu, he would not be contagious to humans. He could have gotten the necessary tests and avoided birds (I'm not sure if it is contagious from human to bird) until test results come back, unless of course he gets sicker.

sorry to say but i forgot where it was but there is a bird farm where every bird has the bird flu, it was on cnn news they had to kill all birds on that farm.
