My mum and I had NEVER had a single conversation about it... I learnt everything I knew from school.. i waited a few days to tell her but knew I had to so just went into her room one day and blurted it out... I really didn;t know what to expect but she acted all happy and tried to act as normal as possible whilst being secretly pleased and that was it..
honestly.. get it over and done with... she'll be expecting it...

If you don't want start the conversation you could maybe be a bit more subtle and perhaps leave some (unused) sanitary towels or tampons in the bathroom or maybe pop them i the shopping trolley if you and "her" shop together.. this could bring up the conversation.. but I feel it is best to just come right out with it.. Afterall it is perfectly normal :)

Good Luck and Welcome to Womanhood :)

I don't think there's any girl or woman out there who hasn't had a similar problem so don't worry!!Honestly, just come out and say it - "I got my period". Once you've told her you'll begin to wonder what you were so worried about (I'm not trying to be mean coz I had exactly the same problem, once I told my mum she just said, ok that's fine, I'll buy you some pads tomorrow!)
Although your mum is older and you might be afraid she won't understand, EVERY woman has had this problem and at around your age too, your mum is probably dying to hear you say it happened (I don't know why they get excited coz it's not a very exciting thing when it's happening!!)
But if you don't manage to tell her this month, there's always next month so don't stress too much about it, just do it when you're ready :)

Just go to her and be truthful. She will be hurt if you don't. I didn't like the idea of having to tell my mom either, but I was only 11. I finally just had to go and tell her. It will be ok, moms are good at being there for you and understanding these things, keep in mind that she has had her period for a lot longer and she will have very helpful advice about the symptoms and what to do about them. I was the 11 year old then, I have an 11 year old now, moms are great things to have! good luck sweetie!

firstly, congratulations on officially becoming a young woman!
i'm assuming you mean you don't know how to tell your mum?
i'm also assuming your mum (or dad) have told you to expect your period to come some time during high school?
please be assured that your mum (or dad) will be expecting to hear your news and will be more than happy to listen.
after all your mum's probably still getting her periods and she'll be able to help you learn about them. oh! and you'll need some sanitary towels or tampons and i'm sure she'll "always" get the best for you! tell her asap. take care. L

I know, it does get quite embarassing and I was very stupid that I didn't even tell my mum the first month I got it, I told her the second month but I have no idea why I was embarassed because when I told her she didn't even make it into a big deal! She just gave me a pad and it was all over with.
Just say, 'mum, I've started my periods' casually. Once you get those words out, you'll feel so relieved that you've told her, trust me x

Assuming you do mean your Mom, then just wait for a quiet moment when just the two of you are together and tell her.

I know everything seems awkward at your age and it's all new, but your Mom has been there and done it all before you! She'll be cool and helpful.

If you can't turn to your Mom, who can you turn to? And, presuming she does the laundry, she will spot the tell tale signs soon anyway!

Good luck.

As it is the most normal thing in the world, and I presume you mean talking to your mum, the easiest way is to just sit mum down and tell her. Nothing to be embarrassed about. My mum took me shopping when I had my first period and tried to make me wear these HUGE pads. We had a giggle. It's always big news so go on tell her...after all she's a women too. :)

You don't know how to tell who? Your mom? Just sit and talk with her and tell her that you think that you're starting to mature. When she asks why, tell her that you started your period (menstrual cycle, etc.). You'll need to let someone know so you can get pads or tampons to help you get through it. You'll probably need someone to help you learn how to use them, and what you can and cannot flush down the toilet as far as these products are concerned. Good luck, and congrats on becoming a woman!

I also presume you mean your mum, hopefully she'll welcome you to the womens club! If you mean your best friend, she'll either be very interested or not...depends on her really. But you need to tell your mum, and its useful to make a note of exactly when you started, and how long it lasts. Bear in mind it won't neccessarily be regular for quite awhile, so you'll need to be prepared. Get a little kit, in a make up bag, pads, spare pants etc. That way you'll never be taken unawares.
