are you asking this question in the context of IF allen iverson was a point guard? The answer is a no brainer that Tony Parker is ten times the point guard Iverson is, because Iverson is a shooting guard. Iverson is very good, he handles the ball very well and could probably play point guard for anybody, but he is primarily a scorer. Maybe he has seen some action at Denver at PG since Anthony is a SG/F, but I'm not sure.

PG are primary gauge on AST/TO ratio. Its their job to distribute and take care of the ball. If they could score, shoot high % FG and FT, and all the other good stuff, its a bonus. But a PG is really judged on their ability to make sure the ball is taken care of.

With that being said, Tony Parker has a 2.1 ratio while Iverson only has 1.7 ratio. So I would pick Tony Parker as a better PG. Iverson might be a better guard in general, but I would pick Parker as a better PG.

Both are talented but I gotta go with Parker. I think Iverson still plays like a shooting guard who desperately wants to be a point guard.

well, if you go by stats, iverson is averaging a whole 2.2 assists more than parker, but hes playing 10 minutes more. I'd have to go with iverson on this one. I hate the spurs and their boring style of basketball.

i evaluate point guards with these criteria:
- does/can he invoke the overall game plan of the coach
- does/can he setup any play with sufficient time to execute it
- can he involve his teammates sufficiently so everyone plays hard
- can he make correct adjustments when the play develops differently than planned to yield good results
- can he sufficiently guard the opposite perimeter player with the most quickness most of the time
- can he anticipate and disrupt the play being called by the opposing team from happening most of the time
- can he bail out the broken play by creating a high percentage shot
- does he play hard
based on these things, i'd have to say tony parker.
