First you need to familiarize yourself with a local attorney who specializes in "family law" and ask him your options!

Secondly, you also may enlighten yourself to what's known as the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction Act (UCCJA) which is the accepted rules of child custody nationally.

Should you find an issue that breaches that of the UCCJA you can certainly address that issue with your attorney who can take legal action then!

Best wishes!

YOU can't do anything. Does your son have shared custody? Does your son have court papers stating this custody? If so, go to the lawyer who did that work and let them know the situation. This isn't your fight. As far as tax purposes, that means your son is not claiming his son (which he may or may not have the right to do). If both your son and the other guy are, the IRS are going to come calling on somebody for 2 people claiming the same person. Retain a lawyer, excuse me have your SON retain a lawyer. As grandma it may hurt, but it isn't your right. Sorry.

Unless your son has joint custody, the mother is allowed to move anywhere she pleases. As for the boyfriend "using him for tax purposes," is this the child you are speaking of? If the mother and the boyfriend are living together and the child has lived with them for the last six months, and the two of them file their taxes as joint, then this is legal.
